http://duesouth2016.com Due South is the second project in a series of artistic explorations of volcanic islands. Due North (duenorth2014.com) focused on Iceland; Due South on Sicily. For the past few years, American and Italian artists have travelled individually and together to Sicily to create new works about the island, resulting in a large scale exhibition at the Delaware Contemporary.
The spotlight on Sicily is extremely timely, because of its extraordinary multi-culturalism and pressing social issues such as the current refugee crisis. Palermo was recently selected by Manifesta 2018 as their host city. We hope to bring many diverse groups in Delaware, Philadelphia and NYC together to enjoy the many facets of Sicily and this exhibition exploring the island from insider and outsider perspectives.
Opening night will be on Feb. 3rd from 5-9pm at The Delaware Contemporary.
