Date:
Wednesday, February 1, 2023 - 6:00pm - 7:30pm
Location:
Penn Museum 3260 South Street

Historic preservation has rarely been a subject taken up by historians. In an effort to address this ironic situation, this talk recounts some of the main themes and critiques shaping the development of built heritage and its preservation in the U.S.—and how this process was itself shaped by periodic reimagining of the American past, as well as by international movements such as UNESCO’s World Heritage Convention.

Speaker: Randall Mason, Professor of City & Regional Planning/Historic Preservation, Weitzman School of Design.

The event will be live, on-site at the Penn Museum and will be live streamed for anyone who would like to attend the lecture virtually.
