International Business Initiative Meeting: Nonstop Air Service to East Asia, 9/16

Friday, September 16, 2011 - 12:00pm - 1:30pm
Philadelphia Bar Association 1101 Market Street, 11th Floor Committee Room South
Philadelphia, PA 19107
United States

Nonstop flights to East Asia will significantly benefit international business in the region. In this International Business Initiative Committee Meeting, Transpacific Nonstop, an International Business Initiative Project, will discuss creating nonstop air travel between Philadelphia and East Asia.

Tom Morr, President of Select Greater Philadelphia, who has worked on this effort with officials from the Philadelphia International Airport and major airlines, will lead a discussion on the status of such service, announced in 2009 but never yet implemented, and what those attending can do to help with this effort.

Attendees will include attorneys, leaders from local trade organizations and officials from companies that regularly do business in East and South Asia. This will be an open discussion with time for input and questions from attendees.

The meeting is timely because a Routes Conference -- at which airlines and city and airport representatives discuss and work to establish new routes -- will be held in Berlin, Germany October 4, 2011. Decisions about new routes are often made at the routes conference.
