On November 17th, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (PAFA) hosted a panel discussion about the city of Philadelphia and the perception of the city from the outside. The panel consisted of Leah Douglas, Director of Image and Chief Curator at Philadelphia International Airport; Peter Gonzales, President and CEO of Welcoming Center for New Pennsylvanians; and Josh Sevin, President and CEO of International House Philadelphia. The panel was moderated by Global Philadelphia Association’s very own Board Chair, John F. Smith, III.

On a cold Saturday afternoon at Talen Energy Stadium, the home of Major League Soccer team, Philadelphia Union, a rapturous crowd, including Mayor Jim Kenney, gathered to see the final match of the Third Annual Philadelphia International Unity Cup.

Professor Porrata-Doria graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania in 1974 and received his J.D. from Yale Law School in 1977. He also holds an M.A. in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania. After graduation, Professor Porrata-Doria practiced law in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Miami, Florida. Professor Porrata-Doria has also served on the boards of numerous non-profit organizations throughout the nation. He is Chair of the Hispanic Association of Contractors and Enterprises, a Philadelphia economic development organization, and past Chair of the Association of Yale Alumni, Yale University’s national alumni organization. He is a 2003 recipient of the Yale Medal, the University’s highest alumni award.

The only daughter of the late pioneering artists, Ellen Powell-Tiberino and Joseph Tiberino, creativity is in Ellen’s blood. Her strong ties to the West Philadelphia community are not only reflected in her art, but in her choice to remain in the neighborhood and use her creative skills to unite and engage residents of various ages and artistic abilities.

He previously owned the company, having sold it to an internal group in 2011, and continues to serve as president.
