Sam Katz has been producing, directing, and developing historical documentaries for ten years. Prior to launching his production company, History Making Productions (HMP), Sam spent much of his career in municipal and project finance, private equity, civic leadership, and politics, including running for Mayor of Philadelphia in 1991, 1999, and 2003.
Jurate Krokys is a veteran urban educator. Recently retired as Assistant Superintendent of the School District of Philadelphia, she has been working in education for 40 years, including 11 years as CEO and Founding Principal of Independence Charter School (ICS). 
On November 17th, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (PAFA) hosted a panel discussion about the city of Philadelphia and the perception of the city from the outside. The panel consisted of Leah Douglas, Director of Image and Chief Curator at Philadelphia International Airport; Peter Gonzales, President and CEO of Welcoming Center for New Pennsylvanians; and Josh Sevin, President and CEO of International House Philadelphia. The panel was moderated by Global Philadelphia Association’s very own Board Chair, John F. Smith, III.
Through the annals of history, particularly in Philadelphia's history, there are moments of great achievement in the development of a new nation. Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, the Declaration of Independence, and the celebration of those achievements on July 4th all come to mind.
In 2015, the United Nations (UN) General Assembly identified 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which provide a framework for how countries, cities, and communities can work towards a more peaceful and prosperous world. These global goals range from ensuring affordable and clean energy supplies, to reducing inequalities, to taking action on climate change.
On a cold Saturday afternoon at Talen Energy Stadium, the home of Major League Soccer team, Philadelphia Union, a rapturous crowd, including Mayor Jim Kenney, gathered to see the final match of the Third Annual Philadelphia International Unity Cup.

Located on West Jefferson Street, the park is nestled at the intersection of both past and future, with both historic apartment buildings and an emerging housing development surrounding it.
The CC Morris Cricket Library, residing at Haverford College and located near their cricket field, is named after C. Christopher Morris, an American cricket player, who played for the Haverford College cricket team in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The commemorative library opened in 1970 and is the largest collection of cricket literature and memorabilia in the western hemisphere. 
Professor Porrata-Doria graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania in 1974 and received his J.D. from Yale Law School in 1977. He also holds an M.A. in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania. After graduation, Professor Porrata-Doria practiced law in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Miami, Florida. Professor Porrata-Doria has also served on the boards of numerous non-profit organizations throughout the nation. He is Chair of the Hispanic Association of Contractors and Enterprises, a Philadelphia economic development organization, and past Chair of the Association of Yale Alumni, Yale University’s national alumni organization. He is a 2003 recipient of the Yale Medal, the University’s highest alumni award.

The only daughter of the late pioneering artists, Ellen Powell-Tiberino and Joseph Tiberino, creativity is in Ellen’s blood. Her strong ties to the West Philadelphia community are not only reflected in her art, but in her choice to remain in the neighborhood and use her creative skills to unite and engage residents of various ages and artistic abilities.

I got the chance to watch my favorite soccer club, FC Bayern München, play at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. In front of a crowd of over 30,000 fans, the 28-time German Bundesliga champions played another distinguished soccer club, Juventus FC, who are 34-time champions of the Italian Serie A competition. The teams were playing as part of an international exhibition tournament called the International Champions Cup.

He previously owned the company, having sold it to an internal group in 2011, and continues to serve as president. With 480 employees in 19 offices located in nine states, the firm specializes in transportation planning, environmental studies, traffic studies and highway and bridge design.
