EIJP - Emerging International Journalists Program

 
 
Building on our original content expertise, we began our Emerging International Journalists Program for undergraduate & graduate students from local and recent graduates from local universities to tell the stories of the global work done by our Members, have meaningful conversations with regional leaders, and write their unique perspective about trips to world heritage sites across the world made possible through our OWHC connections. 
 
The program acts as a dynamic training ground and platform for new voices on international topics connected to the Philadelphia region.

Reflecting on GPA's SDG #4 Unveiling at Saint Joseph's University
By Jeremy Goodman On April 28th, Global Philadelphia Association (GPA) had its first in-person unveiling for Sustainable Development Goal #4: Quality Education at St. Joseph’s University (SJU). One of two murals that were curated for this SDG project, this work of art at the SJU Sciences Center was only a block away from the first one that was completed by the Samuel Gompers school.

PAFA Announces New Appointed President for Historic Museum and College
Last December, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (PAFA) announced that Eric Pryor would be appointed as president of the historic museum and college. Pryor’s role began in early January.

Comcast NBCUniversal hosted its 2019 Demo Day on October 10th, in celebration of their second annual LIFT Labs Accelerator program. Powered by Techstars, the event provided an opportunity for representatives from the program’s spotlighted companies to pitch their businesses to pioneers within Philadelphia’s investment, technology, and startup communities. 
Liberia Crowned PHL Unity Cup Champions for the Third Year in a Row
Liberia defended its Philadelphia International Unity Cup Champions title in a 3-0 victory against the United States during the final round of the tournament, hosted on October 12 at Talen Energy Stadium in Chester. As part of the 2019 GlobalPhilly Expo, the tournament celebrated Philadelphia’s diversity over the past three months by providing an opportunity for local soccer fanatics and athletes representing 52 countries to participate in a World Cup-style competition. 
Teachers Workshop Opens Discussion About Migration, Immigration, and Transformation
Global Philadelphia Association (GPA) partnered with the School District of Philadelphia and History Making Productions to host the “Migration, Immigration, and Transformation” professional development workshop for local educators on September 17, as part of the ongoing 2019 GlobalPhilly Expo. The workshop spotlighted the immigration of people coming to Philadelphia and the way this has impacted the city’s social, political, and economic structure.
