Citizen Diplomacy International: American Summer Experience

Amber Mackey for GPA - Whether you know it as the IVC BBQ, the American Summer Experience, or the picnic, one thing is certain: Citizen Diplomacy International (CDI) will be hosting one of the greatest events of the summer.

On July 22nd at the College of Physicians there will be a garden-party fundraiser, welcoming both international guests, and people from around this region. In addition to great food and French and Italian wines this event will be featuring different activities like “Speed Networking” and “I don’t know anyone here” tables to encourage and allow for citizenship diplomacy.

Citizen Diplomacy International, formerly known as the (International Visitors Council) hosts many different events to foster a space for not just mutual respect, but an understanding of different cultures. From hosting panels to international exchanges, CDI is an organization truly making Philadelphia a global city. This event began as a small BBQ between 10 individuals from Japan and 10 from the US.  Over the years this event has grown to include individuals from over 20 different countries, and this year they're expecting over 450 citizen diplomats! The American Summer Experience will be the only fundraiser for CDI this year and it is one that you definitely do not want to miss. Great dancing, numerous raffles, networking with globally-minded individuals, all of these different elements will work together to make this event a truly unique and welcoming American Summer Experience.
