GACC Event Teaches Philadelphians About the Trump’s Administration’s Immigration Policies

During Global Philadelphia Association’s 2019 GlobalPhilly Expo, the German American Chamber of Commerce (GACC) hosted a seminar that explored the mechanics behind the Trump administration’s approach to foreign policy, entitled, "Policy and Perspective."

Held at the Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC) on the evening of September 11, the seminar was led by Jonathan Grode, an immigration attorney at Green and Spiegel LLP. Using his expertise in the field, Grode explored the changes the Trump administration has made to immigration policies, particularly regarding compliance, migration and the employment of foreign workers. After establishing this foundation of understanding, he described the impact these changes have had on employer morale, small businesses and the health of the overall economy. In his closing remarks, Grode connected the discussion back to the Philadelphia community by teaching attendees about different strategies they can use in the face of this new global working environment as well as methods to protect their organizations from enforcement efforts.

Founded in 1989 as the German-American Business Association of Philadelphia, GACC has always been dedicated to promoting the economic relationship between the United States and Germany, particularly by shining a spotlight on the development of trade and investment opportunities. GACC’s Philadelphia office is an integral part of their international network, which includes 130 offices in 90 countries around the globe under the umbrella of the German Chambers of Commerce Abroad.

Having practiced in the U.S. business immigration law field since 1999, Grode was chosen to lead this event because of the expertise he’s amassed over his years of work. In particular, he’s gained experience in obtaining nonimmigrant and immigrant visas for new company start-ups, professional workers, artists and entertainers, athletes, physicians and scientific researchers. Additionally, he’s also experienced in dealing with Department of Labor and Department of Homeland Security enforcement actions as well as with EB-5 Investor filings.
