World Heritage USA

Dear Friend of World Heritage,

Recognizing the need to reach more people who care about our shared global heritage, the board of trustees has decided to rebrand US/ICOMOS as World Heritage USA, the United States National Committee of the International Council on Monuments and Sites.

While maintaining our connection to ICOMOS and legal identity as the United States National Committee of the International Council on Monuments and Sites, we are now World Heritage USA, the primary U.S. organization supporting the World Heritage Convention and a wide spectrum of preservation activity both in the U.S. and abroad.

This effort is a refinement of our mission and programs. As US/ICOMOS has done for over fifty years, World Heritage USA will continue to promote the conservation of heritage globally while fostering connections to the international heritage community. We accomplish this through advocacy, education, and the exchange of people and ideas. Our International Members will continue to be ICOMOS members and our relationship within ICOMOS will not change.

The 2022 50th Anniversary of the World Heritage Convention has provided the ideal opportunity to undertake this rebranding effort. After examining what our organization stands for and how we wish to be perceived, we have charted a path forward that creates a clear and compelling World Heritage USA brand to appeal to current and new audiences. We present this new logo to the world as a forward-looking U.S. preservation organization committed to global heritage conservation while continuing our traditional relationship with the International Council on Monuments and Sites.

Our new identity will help raise our visibility in the United States, broaden our membership base, and convey the importance of World Heritage to new audiences. Over the next months we will update our communications platforms and messages to reflect our new World Heritage USA identity. Please visit our updated website at WorldHeritageUSA.org and look for our renamed social media profiles.

We hope you agree that our new name and logo convey what we have done, and will continue to do, to support and promote World Heritage and stronger connections to the global heritage community.

Sincerely,
