The Office of Public Engagement Has A New Director
By Leeanah McNew  Romana Lee-Akiyama is joining the Mayor’s Office of Public Engagement as its new director. Lee-Akiyama served as the Director of Multicultural Affairs at the Office of Immigrant Affairs (OIA) before being promoted to Deputy Director in December 2020.

South Asian American Digital Archive Receives Grant to Aid in Development and Infrastructure
By Gary Wooten Last fall, the South Asian American Digital Archive (SAADA), announced during a virtual event that they were the recipient of the Andrew W. Mellon Change-Capital Grant for Digital Humanities in the amount of one million dollars.

A Global Conversation with Jillian Patricia Pirtle, CEO of the Marian Anderson Museum
By Peak Johnson    Global Philadelphia had the opportunity to speak with Jillian Patricia Pirtle, who is being awarded the 2021 Globy for Heritage and Preservation Leadership. In addition to being the CEO of the Marian Anderson Museum and Historical Society, Patricia Pirtle is a professional stage and opera artist.

Global Philadelphia and Temple University Celebrate SDG 10 Reduced Inequalities
By Matt Izzo   Earlier this month, Global Philadelphia and Temple University celebrated the unveiling of a piece of public art supporting Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 10: Reduced Inequalities. The event was held at Temple’s Science Education and Research Center (SERC), which is just around the corner from where the artwork is mounted on Anderson Hall. Through the SDG public art campaign, Temple’s Institutional Diversity, Equity, Advocacy, and Leadership (IDEAL) initiative received a $3,000 grant from the Office of International Affairs (OIA).
