The term bateria refers to the drum sections that participate in the samba school parades during Carnaval. Bateria is a perfect orchestra, formed exclusively by percussion instruments, and is the very essence of what makes Carnaval and its music so exciting. This event, presented by the Halpern-Rogath Curatorial Seminar supported by the Department of the History of Art and the Arthur Ross Gallery, is part of the ongoing Samba Sessão Exhibition. For more on Samba Sessão, please visit this detailed event posting.
