http://www.hlndv.org The Healthcare Leadership Network of the Delaware Valley is hosting a Global Health networking dinner & discussion. How do health professionals respond to a global public health emergency?
During 2014, many U.S. citizens feared that the United States would join affected countries in western Africa in confronting a serious domestic outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus. Trish Henwood, MD, an Emergency Physician, decided to balance personal risk with an urgency to respond at the epicenter of the crisis in Liberia.
Hospitals in the U.S. faced complex decisions and planning to prepare for the arrival of Ebola and the risks to their patients, employees and the general public. Neil Fishman, MD, Associate Chief Medical Officer and Chief Patient Safety Officer for the University of Pennsylvania Health System led the health system’s Ebola Virus Disease Task Force and preparations.
This program will examine the connection between the U.S. and the global community in the face of an epidemic.
