The Evolution of Latin Percussion Featuring Arturo Stable

Latin Fiesta, the charitable arts organization dedicated to building cultural bridges through musical performances, presents an educational interactive performance series featuring renowned artists who are experts on both the historical and technical areas of their craft. Innovative Cuban-born percussionist Arturo Stable will discuss the history of Latin Percussion and demonstrate how to play the different styles of percussion through the use of various instruments.

The percussion instruments: cajon, bombo leguero, congas, timbales, bongos, bata drums, bomba barrel and tambora. The styles of music: Afro Peruvian Lando and Festejo, Argentinian Samba and Chacarera, Cuban Son, Rumba and Changui, Puerto Rican Bomba and Plena, and Dominican Merengue.

The presentation will combine narration with imagery showing the different styles of music supported by a live demonstration.

Arturo will be joined by a few of his students and friends who will participate in the presentation near the end of the program. Members of the audience will also be invited to join Arturo on stage to experience the music.
