The tour will commence at Gompers School's August Community Fair, a lively event filled with music, food, and community engagement. We will gather at the fair at 1 pm, where our knowledgeable guides will welcome participants and provide an overview of the tour. The fair's vibrant atmosphere will set the tone for our exploration of SDG 4 and its significance to the community.
The first stop on our walking tour will be the Gompers School mural created by Isabella Akhtarshenas, located at 5701 Wynnefield Avenue. This captivating mural embodies the spirit of SDG 4, showcasing the transformative power of education and its impact on individuals and communities. Our guide will provide insightful commentary, shedding light on the artist's inspiration and the mural's connection to the local community.
From Gompers School, we will make our way to Saint Joseph's University, where we will encounter another remarkable mural dedicated to SDG 4. Located behind the SJU library at 5600 City Ave, this mural, created by Arthur Haywood, serves as a visual representation of the university's commitment to education and sustainability. Our guides will delve into the significance of the mural within the SJU campus, fostering a deeper understanding of the role educational institutions play in addressing global challenges.
