Horsham, PA - Sunday, August 25; 12:00 – 8:00 PM. The 28th Annual Ukrainian Folk Festival & Summer Concert will be held at the Ukrainian American Sport Center -- Tryzub (www.tryzub.org), County Line and Lower State Roads, Horsham, PA.

Tanabata is a traditional Japanese star festival held in midsummer. Join us at Shofuso Japanese House and Garden to tie wishes (tanzaku) to the bamboo tree, watch our giant tanabata star ornaments swish in the breeze, and make paper cranes for good luck. This full day of activities includes Japanese storytelling, musical instrument demonstrations, origami, and calligraphy! All events free with admission to Shofuso ($10 adults, $5 students, seniors, and children, $2 ACCESS Card holders, and FREE to military, members, and children 3 and under.)

Join Shofuso and the Japan America Society of Greater Philadelphia for the annual Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival! This day-long festival is packed with events and takes place in the Centennial Arboretum surrounding our house and garden. In addition to hosting an expanded gift shop, we will also be offering timed 20 minute tours of the house and garden for the reduced price of $5.

Take a sneak peek at what our summer camp has to offer. Visit the house and participate in a variety of hands-on activities as we gear up for summer! If you like what you see, staff will be on hand to assist with registration after the program has ended. This program is for kids only and registration is required. Parents who wish to visit the site are welcome to purchase regular admission upon arrival.

Campers will take a tasty tour of Japan during this week long camp. From sushi to sweets, campers will roll up their sleeves to create culinary masterpieces. The week will focus on Japanese food traditions as well as turning food into art in the form of decorative bento boxes.

During this week, campers will explore the lives of the samurai. The samurai were not only warriors but they explored haiku, ikebana and other art forms. Campers will be introduced to samurai techniques from the River of Life Martial Arts Center while participating in martial arts, fine art and other exciting workshops.

Campers will explore the tastes, sounds, games and traditions of Japanese festivals. During this week, each day will celebrate a specific holiday from Tanabata (the Star Festival) to Otsukimi (the Moonviewing Festival). The week will culminate in a festival for parents and friends.

From Taiko to J-Pop, campers will explore the sounds of Japan. During this week, musicians from Kyo Daiko will teach kids to play taiko drums. Campers will build a variety of instruments while learning some surprising facts about their origins and uses.
