This "forceful presence on any stage" (The New York Times) returns to the Annenberg Center for a rare, solo performance.

A celebration of Latino culture in the heart of the city’s streets. Traditional Latino music, poetry, and dance make this vibrant festival a must-see event. Held on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, the Puerto Rican Parade typically has around 1,500 marchers; more than 5,000 attendees; and 96,000 tune-in to watch live on 6ABC.

A riveting homage to famed poet/singer/songwriter, Leonard Cohen. With a soundtrack of Cohen's most beloved songs, choreographers Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, Andonis Foniadakis and Ihsan Rustem created a multidisciplinary work that evokes the cycles of human existence as described in Cohen's deeply insightful music and poems. Dance Me paints a multifaceted portrait of the man who gave us "Hallelujah" and "So Long, Marianne", his words finding profound, new meaning though dance.

Traditional Arabic street music, electrified. The Jordanian Palestinian band 47SOUL mixes Debka, the traditional Palestinian street music and dance, with electronic beats, funk, hip-hop and rock, and “the ensuing fusion is fascinating.” (The Guardian) Performing in Philly for the first time, 47SOUL rocks our Outdoor Plaza with distinctive guitar hooks and shattering, bilingual verses that call for universal freedom and equality. It’s a hypnotic and heartfelt dance party for all.

According to Rhoads, “by the launch of our first full season, Teatro Esperanza will be fully outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment to support live productions in music, theater, and dance; a cinema series; and a recording and broadcast studio to serve our community and spotlight the very best in Latino arts and culture.”
