Take a sneak peek at what our summer camp has to offer. Visit the house and participate in a variety of hands-on activities as we gear up for summer! If you like what you see, staff will be on hand to assist with registration after the program has ended. This program is for kids only and registration is required. Parents who wish to visit the site are welcome to purchase regular admission upon arrival.

Campers will take a tasty tour of Japan during this week long camp. From sushi to sweets, campers will roll up their sleeves to create culinary masterpieces. The week will focus on Japanese food traditions as well as turning food into art in the form of decorative bento boxes.

During this week, campers will explore the lives of the samurai. The samurai were not only warriors but they explored haiku, ikebana and other art forms. Campers will be introduced to samurai techniques from the River of Life Martial Arts Center while participating in martial arts, fine art and other exciting workshops.

Campers will explore the tastes, sounds, games and traditions of Japanese festivals. During this week, each day will celebrate a specific holiday from Tanabata (the Star Festival) to Otsukimi (the Moonviewing Festival). The week will culminate in a festival for parents and friends.

From Taiko to J-Pop, campers will explore the sounds of Japan. During this week, musicians from Kyo Daiko will teach kids to play taiko drums. Campers will build a variety of instruments while learning some surprising facts about their origins and uses.

This week’s preschool programming highlights the story of Momotaro, a little boy born from a peach. Momotaro is a very sleepy baby, but he quickly grows strong and embarks on a big adventure to conquer a band of wicked ogres. Kids love the animals Momotaro befriends along the way.

Explore your creativity as a family in this week’s adult/child workshop. Education Coordinator Nicole explains the history and art that go into this traditional Japanese book binding technique.

Throw some action into the mix with this week’s youth workshop! Preteens will spend the early afternoon learning about Menko, a uniquely Japanese card game, making their own deck, and playing against others. Menko cards typically depict popular icons of the time.

The Global Leadership Seminar is open to all rising high school sophomores, juniors and seniors. This four-day seminar will focus on the key issues impacting the rise of Africa as a leading competitor in the global marketplace.
