Doctors Without Borders is coming to Philadelphia for a FREE panel discussion!

 Africa Day is the annual commemoration of the founding of the Organization of African Unity (OAU), which is now the African Union (AU). On May 25, 1963, leaders of 30 of the 32 independent African states signed a founding charter in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, establishing the OAU.  The African Union is now comprised of 53 member states and brings together the continent to collectively address the challenges it has faced, such as armed conflict, climate change, and poverty.

The Philadelphia Film Society launches Saturday Morning Specials, a family-friendly and low-priced indie screening series held monthly at the PFS Theater at the Roxy in Rittenhouse Square.

On Saturday, September 22, 2012 West Philadelphia's Clark Park will host the First Annual Health Uprising Uhuru Health Fair and Flea Market. Come and enjoy an all day free festival in the park with music, food, vendors, and information booths! Free workshops, resources, and health screenings will also be provided, addressing topics such as nutrition, exercise, HIV, diabetes, stress, infant and maternal health and many more! Health Uprising is a project of the African People’s Education and Defense Fund and is a fundraiser supporting health, self-determination, and sustainable economic development projects by and for the African community.

Come join in celebrating international culture while raising money to support the African and Haitian communities that desperatly need aid. This will be a night of elegance and fun and the opportunity to taste different cultures through food, dance and fashion. All proceeds from this gala will go to select charities working in West Africa and Haiti on providing health and education services. Donations will be accepted at the event. Formal or traditional cultural attire required.
