The Vision for Philadelphia250

To many, Philadelphia’s history lies in its Revolutionary-era activities. To the Global Philadelphia Association (GPA), its history lies in the storied contributions of community members originating from across the globe. Previous anniversary celebrations have focused on the city as the birthplace of American independence. Now that the 250th anniversary of 1776 is approaching, Philadelphia250 has a mission to create the most inclusive and innovative anniversary in America’s history.

PAFA Announces New Appointed President for Historic Museum and College

Global Philadelphia and Temple University Celebrate SDG 10 Reduced Inequalities

Earlier this month, Global Philadelphia and Temple University celebrated the unveiling of a piece of public art supporting Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 10: Reduced Inequalities. The event was held at Temple’s Science Education and Research Center (SERC), which is just around the corner from where the artwork is mounted on Anderson Hall. Through the SDG public art campaign, Temple’s Institutional Diversity, Equity, Advocacy, and Leadership (IDEAL) initiative received a $3,000 grant from the Office of International Affairs (OIA).

Join Fleisher and the official Día de los Muertos committee Calaca Flaca (Skinny Skeleton) in November as we hold our fifth Día de los Muertos celebration. With a theme of the Mayan Afterworld, it begins with a series of workshops focused on the traditional Mexican holiday and concludes with two altar celebrations, a vigil, and a procession through South Philadelphia. A celebration of Latino culture in the heart of the city’s streets. Traditional Latino music, poetry, and dance make this vibrant festival a must-see event. Held on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, the Puerto Rican Parade typically has around 1,500 marchers; more than 5,000 attendees; and 96,000 tune-in to watch live on 6ABC.
