Harold B. Yaffe, D.D.S. has a long and solid history of service to the local community as well as to the American Jewish Commitee. Having served as President, Chairman and, currently, Chair Emeritus and Advisory Councils of the Philadelphia/Southern New Jersey office of AJC. As a political activist, Harold’s knowledge and support of issues important to the community is renowned.

Dr. Yaffe majored in biology at New Jersey’s Upsala College from 1963 to 1966. In 1970, he obtained his D.D.S. from Temple University School of Dentistry. He served as a U.S. Army Captain for two years and has been in private practice in Philadelphia ever since. As a clinical instructor at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Yaffe taught all phases of general dentistry. In 1975 he founded The Dental Spa in center city, among the longest-running practices in the area. Dr. Paul J. Berson joined him in 1980 and they have been partners for 36 years.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Harold maintains a high profile in the community, serving on numerous boards and committees, which exemplify his dedication to the city. His community service roles include: past board member of the Friends of Rittenhouse Square and Urban Youth Racing School (UYRC), Co-chair of Mayor Michael Nutter’s Finance Committee, past board member of the Linda Creed Breast Cancer Foundation, past board of trustees member of Bryn Mawr Rehabilitation Hospital, as well as active participation with The Curtis School of Music. Committed to enhancing civic life, Harold was appointed to the Mayor’s Commission for the City of Philadelphia Scholarship Fund by both Mayors Rendell and Street, and was also appointed by Major Nutter to the Pennsylvania Authority of Industrial Development Board.

Harold is a past president of the Eastern Dental Society, a member of Philadelphia County Dental Society, American Dental Association, American Association of Cosmetic Dentists and Philadelphia Cosmetic Dental Society.

Harold and his wife, Linda, live in center city Philadelphia. They have two children, Louis and Lisa.
