Thirty percent of Philadelphia’s foreign born come from Europe. Many are Eastern Europeans that arrived after the end of the cold war.

Philadelphia has been a land of opportunity for European immigrants for hundreds of years. Europeans were the first to arrive, fleeing religious persecution and seeking the economic opportunity of the new world. William Penn, Philadelphia's founder, was an immigrant from Great Britain, and envisioned the city as a haven of religious tolerance, encouraging those persecuted in Europe to settle here.

At age 11, Michael spent a year in Norway with his family. He attended a Norwegian school and began his immersion into Norwegian culture, mainly through the new sports introduced to him. He would not return for 16 years and through that and subsequent visits he developed an appreciation for the country, people and culture, although he is not of Norwegian descent. He is reunited with friends and gains new experiences.

The Foundation, named for the Revolutionary War hero Thaddeus Kosciuszko, is a not-for-profit organization based in New York City. It was established in 1925 to encourage and promote the study of Polish culture, history, language, and tradition in the United States. Ukrainian Community In Philadelphia

On February 24th in the early hours Ukraine was invaded by Russia - an act of war not seen on European soil since 1945. Global Philadelphia Association recognizes the impact of the Ukrainian community in Philadelphia and stands in solidarity with the community during this time.
