Al Día Hosts Chef Series
Posted on February 15, 2015
Peter Chawaga, for GPA -- On February 5th, AL DÍA News Media (1835 Market St.) hosted its second Chef Series event. Staff and friends of the Spanish language newspaper gathered together in the Gabriel García Márquez newsroom to enjoy drinks, conversation and above all, food.
The fare was provided by the Marin Group, restaurateur brothers responsible for serving authentic Mexican food throughout the region. The group's locations include Los Sarapes of Chalfont and Horsham, El Sarape of Blue Bell and Xilantro of Wayne. Among the appetizers for sample were grilled octopus, empanadas and Mexican meatballs.
The ongoing Chef Series is an example of the many events AL DÍA hosts to connect its wide city network with its reporters, editors and staff. Brought together under the auspices of Hispanic cocktails and discovering the Marin Group's culinary influences, discussion among attendees included pressing concerns for the city’s next Mayor, Philadelphia’s vibrant Latino community and the merits of spicy tomatillo sauce.
