The Alliance Française de Philadelphie is thrilled to announce the appointment of Philippe Poirier as the organization's next Executive Director, effective September 5, 2023. Philippe's selection comes after an extensive search process, and his impressive track record within the Alliance community makes him an ideal candidate for this leadership role.

A native of Québec, Philippe Poirier is no stranger to the Alliance Française de Philadelphie, having actively participated in various capacities, including member, volunteer, cultural event organizer, and board member. Since relocating from Canada, Philippe has immersed himself in the Philadelphia community, forging strong connections and demonstrating unwavering dedication to the Alliance's mission.

Currently serving as the director of a figure skating school, Philippe brings over 25 years of professional experience to his new position. His diverse background includes teaching figure skating, managing and organizing touring performance groups, and serving as the executive director of a nonprofit. Philippe holds both a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the prestigious Université Laval.

The Alliance Française de Philadelphie places a core emphasis on excellence in teaching, and the leadership transition ensures a seamless continuation of this commitment. In addition to welcoming Philippe as the new Executive Director, the Alliance is delighted to retain the expertise of Alissia Hauteville, who will continue her role as the Director of Education and Testing Programs. Alissia's leadership in this capacity has been outstanding, and her dedication to upholding teaching quality sets a high standard for the Alliance.

"We are confident that Philippe Poirier will be an exceptional addition to our organization," said Beth Diffley of the Alliance Française de Philadelphie. "His extensive experience, combined with his passion for the Alliance's mission, will undoubtedly lead us to new heights. We are also deeply grateful for the invaluable contributions of our outgoing Executive Director, Sonia Robin, who has undoubtedly strengthened our organization and paved the way for a smooth leadership transition."

The board and staff of the Alliance Française de Philadelphie eagerly anticipate the fresh perspectives and innovative strategies that Philippe and Alissia will bring to the organization's future. As the Alliance embarks on this exciting new chapter, it remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering an environment where members and partners can thrive, feel welcomed, and valued.
