http://panamcs.org Pan American Academy is a K through 8 charter school founded by Congreso in September 2008. Governed by a committed Board of Trustees, Pan American Academy provides high-quality education to over 700 students in eastern North Philadelphia.
A vibrant community that is home to the city’s largest concentration of Latinos, eastern North Philadelphia also faces many urban challenges. Given that 60% of Philadelphia Latinos live in poverty and lack a high school diploma, an innovative approach was crucial to address the needs of the next generation. Congreso created a charter school that incorporated comprehensive supports into the educational model to help the community’s vulnerable children excel in school and beyond. Pan American Academy Charter School is the first International Baccalaureate elementary school in Philadelphia.
