In October 2022, the Rev. Dr. Leon H. Sullivan Charitable Trust (Trust) will be leading a city-wide effort to recognize and celebrate Rev. Leon Sullivan’s 100th Birthday, highlighting his legacy and ongoing local and global impact as a civil rights and social justice activist.
We believe that our diversity is one of our biggest strengths in Philadelphia. As the nation’s first World Heritage City, the City of Philadelphia launched the Philadelphia Honors Diversity Flag Raising Program in 2018 to celebrate the culture and heritage of the many immigrant communities that call our city home with speeches, dance, food, and songs.

The Global Interdependence Center is returning to Cuba! We will be working once again with Cuba Educational Travel (CET), a leader in business and policy travel to Cuba, to assist in facilitating GIC’s Delegation to Havana departing Sunday, January 8, returning Thursday, January 12, 2023.

The Organization of World Heritage Cities (OWHC) is awarding a "Young Travelling Scholarship" for travel enthusiasts aged 18 to 28 for the third time this summer after successful editions in 2018 and 2019. The travel scholarship, endowed with 1000 euros, enables young people to get to know World Heritage cities in Europe and North America and to understand why UNESCO World Heritage is so particularly worth protecting for all of us.
Al-Bustan is pleased to offer remote Modern Standard Arabic courses for adults in 2022 using curricula specifically designed for our students, based on feedback from previous course cycles. Held on ZOOM, the 10-week sessions run the week of June 6th through the week of August 8th. We are offering two sections, Beginner 1 for complete novices to the Arabic language and Beginner 2 for those with novice prior engagement with the Arabic language, both taught by Instructor Noora Alrawi.
The Museum of the American Revolution’s Citizenship Initiative supports Philadelphia’s growing immigrant population pursuing American citizenship by helping these individuals prepare for the United States naturalization test. The Philadelphia Taxpayer Assistance Center is open Saturday April 9, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Many Taxpayer Assistance Centers will be open around the country this Saturday, April 9 for face-to-face help. This special Saturday help is available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and no appointment is needed.
