The Almac Group, based in Northern Ireland, officially opened its new, $120 million, 240,000-square foot, North American headquarters in Souderton, PA last month. The $120 million investment is one of the largest ever made by a Northern Ireland-owned firm in the United States and represents the continued expansion of the business on both sides of the Atlantic, Almac said.

Those of us familiar with immigrant narratives and experiences have surely heard the story of the mother or father who was a doctor in her or his home country, to come to the United States to work in retail or as a cab driver. Now, the Welcoming Center for New Pennsylvanians is helping people arriving into the United States negotiate the paperwork and licensing exams they need in order to preserve their professional status and continue working in their vocation. On Thursday April 28, 2011, International Visitors Council will hosts its 57th Annual Meeting in the Mayor's Reception Room in City Hall. Join IVC for a general meeting, followed by a reception and conversations with distinguished international visitors. These conversations will be keynoted by a talk given by the night's guest speaker, Sana Abed-Kotob, US Department of State, Office of International Visitors. The event is open to members and non-members of IVC. RSVP by Friday April 22, 12 PM.
